Easter Rising 1916

Map & Table

The map and accompanying table present the recorded locations of the 2,611 individuals who took part in the Easter Rising of 1916 and were formally recognised through the award of a 1916 Medal and/or a military service pension for service between 23 and 29 April 1916.

The locations shown reflect where these individuals were active during Easter Week, as recorded in their medal or pension applications. As many participants moved between positions over the course of the Rising, some individuals are associated with more than one location. Each marker on the map represents a site at which recognised participants were active.

While every effort has been made to accurately represent the available information, the data is limited by the nature of the surviving archival records.

*This table lists stories about individuals only. Location-based stories appear on the map and in Featured Stories below.
NOTE: Some people in the table are not on the map. Search “Unknown” in the Location field to find them.
