Donation of Uniforms from the Perkins Collection

04.12.2025

We are delighted to have received a very generous donation of 21 uniforms from the personal collection of Flight Sergeant James Perkins (retired), one of our volunteers here at the Military Archives. The donation consists of a variety of uniforms from the 1930s to the present day. It includes a desert pattern variant of the current Irish DPM (disruptive pattern material) combat uniform issued to personnel on service in Afghanistan with ISAF, an Emergency period (1940s) fatigue uniform, and a dress uniform and service uniform from the 1930s belonging to Lieutenant General MJ Costello.

This donation adds to our collection of over 300 uniforms, as well as various badges and insignia, which includes uniforms ranging in age from the Irish Volunteers (c1913) to recently retired senior NCOs and Officers from the Army, Naval Service and Air Corps.
