West Cavan Brigade – 1 Midland Division

At the period 11 July 1921, what was to become by 1 July 1922 the 1 Battalion (Corlough/Belturbet), then consisted of two independent battalions.
Belturbet (Independent) Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 132 all ranks. On 11 July 1921 the companies of the Belturbet (Independent) Battalion were located as follows: Belturbet, Milltown, Camaleer, and Drumalee.
Corlough (Independent) Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 115 all ranks. On 11 July 1921 the companies of the Corlough (Independent) Battalion were located as follows: Upper Corlough, Lower Corlough, Templeport, Ballyconnell, and Swanlinbar.
1 Battalion (Corlough/Belturbet): Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 82 all ranks. On 1 July 1922 the companies of the 1 Battalion (Corlough/Belturbet) were located as follows: Lower Corlough, Templeport, Belturbet, Milltown, Swanlinbar and Ballyconnell.
2 Battalion (Ballinagh): Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 370 all ranks and the strength on 1 July 1922 was 119 all ranks. By 1 July 1922 part of this unit was transferred to the 3 Battalion (Gownagh). The companies of the 2 Battalion (Ballinagh) were located as follows: Ballinagh, Drumbrade, Bruskey, Gowna, Loughduff, Upper Mullahoran, Ballymachugh, Ardvagh, Killeshandra, Cormore, and Denn.
3 Battalion (Gownagh): On 11 July 1921 this unit was not in existence and was formed from companies of the 2nd. Battalion (Ballinagh) which were transferred by 1 July 1922. The unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 271 all ranks.The companies of the 3 Battalion (Gownagh) were located as follows: Gowna, Loughduff, Upper Mullahoran, Ballymachugh, and Ardvagh.

An Active Service Unit was effective with the West Cavan Brigade in 1921 with a strength of 35 all ranks. Personnel were attached to the A.S.U from the battalions of the brigade.
