Kosovo

Kosovo Force (KFOR) is a NATO led international peacekeeping force which was responsible for establishing a secure environment in Kosovo. Under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 in June 1999 KFOR entered Kosovo. The Defence Forces initial contribution to KFOR in 1999 consisted of a transport/logistics company based in Camp Clarke, Lipljan, 5 kilometres south of Pristina. Camp Clarke closed in 2010 but the Defence Forces still contribute a small number of troops to KFOR. Many Irish soldiers have also served as part of a multinational Military Police Company in Kosovo.
