Established in January 1947 by Oscar Traynor, the Bureau worked over 11 years to collect revolutionary period (1913-1921) material such as 1773 witness statements, 334 collections of contemporary documents, 42 sets of photographs, 12 voice recordings and press cuttings to cover as broad a range as possible of individuals, events, operations and viewpoints from that period.
