About the Collection
The collection comprises of a large and varied corpus of archival material and records. The two broad streams of legislation are used to illustrate the nature and content of the personal files of applicants and the relevance of the supporting administrative records and other material in the collection.
Spotlight - Active Service
The term "active service" is central to the granting of awards to all categories of applications under the Army Pensions Acts 1923-1953, the Military Service Pensions Acts, 1924, 1934 and the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act 1949. As the work of the project archivists progressed it became apparent that a deep dissatisfaction existed on the part of the veterans refused awards under the legislation.
