Hiyam Haidar (Rosie)

Hiyam Haidar was interviewed in UN Post 2-45, UNIFIL, South Lebanon on 9th March 2018 for the Military Archives Oral History Project. Her interview is part of a series of interviews recorded to mark forty years of Irish service in Lebanon with UNIFIL. Hiyam worked as a local shopkeeper in the Irish Battalion area of operations, South Lebanon for twenty-three years. She speaks about her work with Irish soldiers, particularly ‘C’ Company based at Brashit. She speaks about her family background and about meeting Irish dignitaries when they would visit the Irish battalions.
