Coolavokig or Ballyvourney Ambush

IRA ambush of Auxiliary and RIC motor party at Coolavokig and subsequent fight with British reinforcements at Coomnaclohy, County Cork on 25 February 1921. Conflicting accounts of casualty figures in the files but, according to contemporary newspaper reports, at least 3 Auxiliary Division RIC and RIC killed and a number also wounded. Also referred to as the Ballyvourney, Poulnabro or Coolnacaheragh ambush.
