June 1922

The first Civil War deaths recorded in MSPC files involve two members of the National Army, two IRA members and one Fianna Eireann member. Four died in Dublin on 28 June 1922, one in Kilkenny. Joseph Considine, a private from 1 Battalion, Mid-Clare Brigade was travelling in a car with a number of other Mid Clare Brigade IRA members en route to the Four Courts when he was shot by National Army forces. He died later on in Jervis Street Hospital, Dublin.

On the same day, and away from active fighting, Private John Moran was accidentally shot dead in Kilkenny Barracks by a fellow member of the National Army.
