South Leitrim – 1 Midland Division

This brigade was dissolved prior to 1 July 1922 and its units (less a number of companies) became part of the 3 Western Division. The data given here for this Brigade is for the first critical period only (11 July 1921).
1 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 743 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows: Carrigallen, Aughavas, Cloone, Cornageeha, Drumreilly, Fearglas, Drumeela and Barnacoola.
2 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 579 all ranks. The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows: Ballinamore, Aughnasheelin, Fenagh, Crumlin, Drumshanbo, Aughawilliam, Kiltubrid North, Kiltubrid South and Corraleehan.
3 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 618 all ranks. The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows: Jamestown, Annaduff, Carrick-on-Shannon, Drumsna, Leitrim, Eslin, Garvagh, Gowel, Mohill and Barnacoula.
4 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 189 all ranks. The companies of the 4 Battalion were located as follows: Drumkeeran, Tarmon, Newbridge, Crevelea, Ballinaglera, Belhavel, and Whiteroad.

An Active Service Unit was effective with the South Leitrim Brigade in 1921 with a strength of 28 all ranks. Personnel were attached to the A.S.U from the battalions of the brigade.
