3 South Roscommon Brigade – 2 Western Division

This brigade in the unit formation listed here was not formed by the first critical date 11 July 1921 and all data is for the period 1 July 1922 only. The Mountbellew Battalion was part of the Galway South East Brigade, 1 Western Division. The Longford Battalion was part of the Longford Brigade, Midland Division.
1 (Mountbellew) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 64 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows:  Menlough,  Caltra,  Ballymackward,  Gurteen and Mountbellew.
2 (Ballygar) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 132 all ranks.The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows:  Ballygar,  Ballinamore,  Newbridge,  Ahaseragh,  Fohena and Killure.
3 (Roscommon) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 80 all ranks. The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows:  Kiltervan,  Athleague and Kilbride.
4 (Knockcroghery / St. John’s) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 66 all ranks.The companies of the 4 Battalion were located as follows:  Knockcroghery, St. John’s,  Rahara,  Curraghboy,  Lisvare and Dysart.
5 (Summerhill) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 169 all ranks.The companies of the 5 Battalion were located as follows:  Summerhill,  Bealnamulla,  Drum,  Moore,  Clonown,  Kiltoom and Taughmaconnell.
6 (Longford) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 110 all ranks.The companies of the 6 Battalion were located as follows:  Newtowncashel,  Rathcline, Clough and Ballymahon.
