2 Dublin Brigade – 2 Eastern Division

This brigade did not exist on the first critical date (11 July 1921) and the data is for 1 July 1922 only. The Brigade was formed by the transfer of units from the 1 Dublin Brigade, the attachment of the Kildare Column, and the Wicklow (Independent) Battalion.
1 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 224 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows: Dundrum & Milltown, Blackrock and Deansgrange.
2 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 330 all ranks. The companies of the 2 Battalion were located in South County Dublin.
3 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 270 all ranks.The companies of 3 Battalion were located as follows: Tallaght, Clondalkin, Ballinascorney, Brittas & Kilbride, Blessington & Lacken, Valleymount, Granabeg and Saggart & Rathcoole.
The Kildare Column was in service by July 1922 and was attached to the 2 Dublin Brigade and located at Blessington. On 1 July 1922 the strength of the Kildare Column was 59 all ranks.
Wicklow (Independent) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 245 all ranks.n The companies of the Wicklow (Independent) Battalion were located as follows: Wicklow, Arklow, Rathdrum, Laragh, Ashford, Redcross & Barnderrig, Rathnew, Avoca, Newtown Mount Kennedy & Kilcoole, Glenealy, Johnstown, Roundwood and Delgany.
