1 South Mayo – 2 Western Division

This brigade in the unit formation listed here was not formed by the first critical date 11 July 1921 and all data – with the exception of the Active Service Unit – is for the period 1 July 1922 only. The data for the brigade in the form in which it existed on 11 July 1921, when it was part of the 1st. Western Division, is under Mayo South Brigade. 1 (Cross) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 282 all ranks.The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows:  Cross,  Neale,  Clonbur and Cong.2 (Ballinrobe) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 366 all ranks.The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows:  Ballinrobe,  Clooncastle,  Robeen,  Partry,  Srah,  and Loughmask.3 (Claremorris) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 256 all ranks.The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows:  Bekan,  Logboy,  Johnstown,  Kilcoman,  Knock,  Murneen,  Ballygown and Claremorris.4 (Balla) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 248 all ranks.The companies of the 4 Battalion were located as follows:  Mayo Abbey,  Belcarra,  Balla,  Tavanagh and Ballyglass.5 (Ballyhaunis) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 92 all ranks.The companies of the 5 Battalion were located as follows:  Crossard,  Aghamore,  Brackloon,  Coolnafarna and Ballyhaunis.6 (Ballindine) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 147 all ranks.The companies of the 6 Battalion were located as follows:  Ballindine,  Irishtown,  Ballyglass,  Crossboyne,  and Carramore.7 (Kilmaine) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 158 all ranks.The companies of the 7 Battalion were located as follows:  Kilmaine,  Thomastown,  Carris,  Shrule,  Seafinn and Hollymount.An Active Service Unit was formed in January 1921 and on 11 July 1921 it had a strength of 27 all ranks.  Personnel were drawn from the battalions of the brigade.
