1 South East Galway Brigade – 1 Western Division

The data for the brigade in the form in which it existed on 11 July 1921 is under ‘Galway South East Brigade”. This brigade – in the unit formation set out here – was not formed by the first critical date 11 July 1921 and all data is for the period 1 July 1922 only.
1 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 98 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows:  Loughrea,  Kilnadeema,  Closetoken,  Bullaun and New Inn.
2 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 97 all ranks. The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows:  Mullagh,  Killimor,  Kiltormer,  Kilrickle and Killoran.
3 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 117 all ranks. The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows:  Aughrim,  Ballinasloe,  Cappatagle,  Clontuskert and Kilconnell.
4 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 69 all ranks. The companies of the 4 Battalion were located as follows:  Laurencetown and Clonfert.
5 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 41 all ranks.The companies of the 5 Battalion were located as follows:  Portumna,  Tiernascragh and Tynagh.
6 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 85 all ranks.The companies of the 6 Battalion were located as follows:  Abbey,  Ballinakill,  Duniry,  Leitrim & Kilmeen and Woodford.
