Welcome to the Blog of the MSPC Project Team

The mission of the MSPC Project team is to preserve and provide access (through detailed description work and digitisation) to the tens of thousands of files that make up the Collection. The Collection is the largest in the Military Archives of Ireland and the Project has been one of the flagship projects of the Decade of Centenaries. If you want to know more about the collection itself you could look at the Collection page on this blog or, if you feel ready for a deep dive, you may wish to go directly to the MSPC ‘About’ section on the Military Archives website.
To know more about the resources we share on the official website, the successive file releases, and also to get a better idea of what we’ve been up to in terms of public engagement, have a look at our Sharing page.

The blog is maintained by the MSP Project Archivists themselves who have spent years cataloguing and examining the files. This is a space for us to highlight themes and stories that the we find interesting, odd or noteworthy, anything that catches our attention, going along the grain or against the grain.

Look at all our posts HERE

You’ll see that some posts are linked to release work as they examine ‘just-released’ files in detail and, in doing so, they could attract your attention on new research paths or little known stories (see ‘release’ as a category). Other articles are called Research Snapshot. These give an outline of the research we have done in order to prepare conference papers or public lectures….because it’s nice to share!

We hope you enjoy this site, leave a comment if you do!
