An tÓglach front cover 20 December 1924

December's Document of the Month is a special festive edition from our An tÓglach collection, published 20th December 1924.

The content of this bumper edition features such gems as:

The cartoons "Private Murphy Looks Forward to Christmas" and "How to Manage a Xmas Pudding". Rip-roaring adventures like "Foreign Fields" by John Silver and colloquially written yarns like "The Butler" specially written for An tÓglach by Lynn Doyle and "The Girl who Broke us All" by Con O'Leary.

There is a wealth of historical articles covering subjects such as Irish Troops in the Year 1601 and the bleak winter endured by citizens in the besieged city of Paris in 1870, along with notes on the Army Chaplains, the Army Athletic Association, various lectures given and other goings-on in the Army.

Considering the time of year, there is also news of Christmas competitions and a Christmas message to the troops from the Minister for Defence.
